NABU Inclusive Literacy Project
Globally over 250m children are illiterate despite attending school. In developing countries books are extremely scarce, and most kids don’t have access to culturally relevant children’s books, which is a major cause of illiteracy. This global literacy crisis is only being exacerbated due to COVID-19. To solve this problem we built NABU.ORG, a free tech platform providing culturally relevant mother tongue books, with the goal of bringing literacy tools into the homes of millions of children. We work with local creators to rapidly produce culturally relevant children’s books, using AI to level the stories in any language. In the last 24 months we have achieved proof of concept with an active reader base of 50,000 readers in Haiti and Rwanda.
